Power Sector – Regulatory Affairs
With 49 years of experience in Pakistan’s energy sector, Mr. Rana has held leadership roles such as Team Lead (General Manager) for NTDC/WPPO, where they played a pivotal role in tariff studies and negotiations for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), signing over 12 PPAs under the 2002 Power Policy. He has also been involved in resolving disputes related to projects under the 1994 Power Policy and have provided regular professional advice to NEPRA on tariff determinations and IPP matters. Mr. Rana contributed to the development of policies for hydel, thermal, and wind power projects, assisted in preparing Request for Proposals (RFPs) for coal power projects, and led efforts in reviewing feasibility studies, managing contracts, and resolving performance disputes related to private power plants. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore.
