Client:
Cherat Cement
From 2008 to 2012, PITCO, in collaboration with First Climate AG Zurich Switzerland, implemented a waste heat recovery project for Cherat Cement in Nowshera, Pakistan. The project involved installing one Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) to recover waste heat from the clinker-making process and a steam turbine with a capacity of 7 MW. This initiative aimed to displace fossil fuel electricity production and/or grid electricity import.
PITCO’s services included site condition assessments, economic analysis, and preparation of the financial feasibility of the project. Our team assessed the technical viability of HRSGs and the financial additionality of the plant as per CDM requirements. PITCO selected the appropriate CDM methodology, conducted environmental, social, and developmental impact assessments, and prepared requests for proposals for CDM Validator/designated operational entity (DOE). PITCO assisted in shortlisting and hiring the DOE, developed the CDM PDD, and provided comprehensive assistance during the validation process. PITCO also reviewed the Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) Report, assisted in acquiring Host Country Approval (HCA), conducted stakeholder consultation meetings, and prepared a CDM monitoring manual.
