From February 2014 to June 2017, PITCO, in collaboration with Sequa gGmbH, ISC, Iqbal Hamid Trust, PLGMEA, PGMEA, and PFMA, implemented the Pakistan Leather Competitiveness Improvement Program (PLCIP) across Pakistan. The project, funded by the European Union, aimed to improve the competitiveness of SMEs in the leather industry. The program involved conducting focus group meetings, competitive needs assessments, operational and process audits, and developing productivity showcases in footwear, leather garments, gloves, and goods sectors.
PITCO’s services included conducting competitive needs assessments, operational audits, and developing productivity, pattern-making, and worker skill showcases. Our team also worked on capacity building for BDS/VET providers, such as the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD), Government Institute of Leather Technology (GILT), and National Institute of Leather Technology (NILT). PITCO facilitated the implementation of training programs, developed master trainers, and supported the participation of Pakistani leather firms in international trade shows and markets. The program aimed to enhance productivity, design capabilities, and market access for the leather industry in Pakistan.
