PITCO, as the primary subcontractor to International Resources Group (IRG), conducted an operational audit for FESCO from October 2010 to September 2015 as part of the USAID-funded Power Distribution Program. The audit aimed to improve the financial, commercial, and technical standing of FESCO by evaluating performance across various areas, including governance, operational, financial, human resources, communications, and customer service. The project covered multiple locations within Pakistan, including Faisalabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Jhang, Bhakkar, T.T Singh, and Chiniot.
As part of the audit, Our team evaluated Transmission and Distribution (T&D) losses. Using internationally acceptable sampling methods, the sample included 6 substations, 21 feeders, and 2256 transformers. Our team performed GIS mapping and load flow analysis using SynerGEE software to calculate technical losses. PITCO also conducted HT and LT load flow analysis to segregate technical and non-technical losses, followed by developing HT and LT feeder rehabilitation proposals to reduce technical losses. The audit identified reasons for line losses and provided recommendations for improvement in transmission issues, distribution system management, and segregation of system losses.
