Client:
DG Khan Cement Company Limited (DGKCCL)
From April 2008 to November 2012, PITCO, in collaboration with First Climate AG Zurich Switzerland, executed an alternate fuel project for DG Khan Cement Company Limited in District Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan. The project aimed to replace coal with alternate fuels such as municipal solid waste, biomass, and tire-derived fuel (TDF) in clinker production. This initiative sought to reduce coal dependency and environmental impact while ensuring efficient and sustainable energy practices at the Khofli Sattai Plant.
PITCO’s services included conducting a preliminary assessment to identify biomass-based energy generation and project equipment. PITCO prepared the financial feasibility of the project, assessed the financial additionality of the plant as per CDM requirements, and selected the appropriate CDM methodology. Our team conducted a detailed biomass fuel supply chain analysis, laboratory analysis of biomass samples, and thorough assessments of biomass and municipal solid waste storage facilities. PITCO developed the CDM project design document (PDD), assisted with host country approval, reviewed the Initial Environmental Examination Report, and oversaw stakeholder consultation meetings. PITCO provided comprehensive assistance during the validation process and post-registration support for project monitoring.
