Shakarganj Mills Limited
From 2010 to 2012, PITCO, in collaboration with First Climate AG Zurich Switzerland, worked on a 15 MW bagasse-based high-pressure cogeneration (HPC) system for Shakarganj Energy Limited in Bhone, Pakistan. The project involved installing two biomass-based high-pressure boilers (100 tph each) and two steam turbines (20 MW each). High-pressure steam generated from the boilers was used to generate electricity, fulfilling the internal demand of the sugar mill, with surplus electricity exported to the grid.
PITCO’s services included a preliminary assessment, preparing the financial feasibility of the project, and assessing the financial additionality as per CDM requirements. Our team selected the appropriate CDM methodology, developed the CDM PDD, and conducted emission reduction calculations and monitoring plans. PITCO assisted with host country approval, reviewed the Initial Environmental Examination Report, oversaw stakeholder consultations, and selected the designated operational entity (DOE) for project validation. PITCO provided comprehensive support during the validation process, tariff negotiations, and grid interconnectivity, ensuring successful project implementation.
